Below is a little song with very interesting lyrics. I am putting it on my website to remind all of the chat room gossips, back stabbers, evil, greedy, mean, jealous and deceitful breeders and critics of what they have become. They should all look within themselves before criticizing others. I am no worse, no better than all of the other breeders out there. I do not harrass them, spread rumors and lies about them, talk about them behind their backs or spread gossip about them or slander their names all over the internet and chat groups. I have been fighting this scourge since I began breeding border collies all those years ago. I am still here, doing the best I can breeding, and being here, for my dogs and my buyers. I have no shortage of buyers. This is my thumb up the nose to all of you "breeders" out there who attempt to make my life miserable, and who have attempted, and failed, to put me out of business, discredit my dogs, my policies, and my sole existence on this earth. Pay attention to these words. They describe every single one of you. With special credits going to JC, MH, EP, MM, SB, KL, MW, LH, LC. Also to your friends and your cohorts and any of you I may have forgotten to include. You all know who you are...and yes, those are YOUR initials in case you're wondering. You have made me stronger, more dedicated, devoted, and more determined than ever to continue breeding the best border collies around and to offer the best guarantees along with them! If you cannot, or do not care to provide the same care to your customers and dogs, try and contain your distain. I will not change my policies because a few of you disaprove of them, can't compete with them or are jealous of them. If I stepped on your toes, get over it! If you don't think rescue has a big need in this world, then don't rescue. If you don't approve of me rescuing because I'm "taking money out of your pockets", then you shouldn't be doing rescue, because that is definitely what rescuing is NOT about. Or, as another one of you stated, "rescuing is stupid because it takes too much time and you can't make any money on it", then you certainly should NOT be breeding dogs of ANY kind! If you think my prices are too high for my pups, and you're mad because I sell my pups for more than you do, then take your pups to the vet for every single visit, starting at 2 weeks, rather than vetting them yourself and pocketing all that extra cash. Put the time into socializing your puppies, driving them in the car so they do not get car sick, letting them be handled by adults and children of both genders, letting them interact with larger and smaller dogs and cats, bring them indoors and outdoors so that they learn not to fear machine noises, etc. Then you can tell me I'm asking too much for my pups and that they are not worth what I get for them. I've noticed lots of you who complained the loudest, have raised your prices by several hundred dollars from what you were asking before I came along...and your care for your pups or customers has not improved one bit. If you don't like the homes I have for my pups, too bad! I do! My buyers are conscientious and love their pups to death...and most send photos and updates on them as well! You think border collies are just working machines, meant to live outside in small cages, taken out and worked and then put back into their cages when you are done with them, you are missing out on so much more that these dogs have to offer. And if you won't allow them to ride inside your vehicle or go inside your home, than you are just plain ignorant! They are bred for working dogs, however, they are living creatures with feelings...more feelings than you will ever possess obviously! I do not breed my girls on every single heat as at least one of you does. I make my girls skip in between. I don't believe that because wild dogs breed every time they come in heat that domestic dogs should too. Wolves, the first wild dogs, will only come into heat in the spring...once a year. They were created to breed only once a year. Man has manipulated them into two heats a year for his gain, not for the health of the dog. That excuse doesn't fly with me. Sorry if it bothers you to hear it! Domesticated dogs come into heat twice a year because they have been bred to do so. They don't need to be bred on every single heat. I know several of you who breed your dogs over and over again, never skipping a heat, until they are old and arthritic. To me that is cruel. I require a full animal history application from each buyer considering one of my puppies. I care where my puppies go! I keep every one on file...forever! Most of you don't even get any information on the buyers of your puppies at all! Anyone who has the cash can buy one. Money talks to you people. Half of you are snobs who think only working homes are for border collies. That's like saying "Only green people can eat spinach"! I don't care if they want to herd, play frisbee or agility, or go hunting with their dogs. As long as they are loving them and taking good care of them, I don't care if they aren't just being used to chase sheep around! If you think it's stupid of me to replace a defective pup claiming the person "just wants a free dog", then you have no place in breeding as far as I'm concerned. I'm sorry if I make you all look bad, so bad that you have to spread rumors about me to make yourselves feel like you're better than me. Just keep me off your email list! I really don't care what you think anymore! Oh, and I did pretty much screw myself by requiring all of my pups to be spayed or neutered. When Katie died, I lost the best dog ever, with none of her offspring to breed back to for her bloodlines. However, I am not trying to get my name all over the country as some big shot breeder. I just want my dogs to be safe, healthy and comfortable. I do not want them being bred indiscriminately and their puppies ending up in shelters and rescues because someone doesn't care or know enough to keep them from being bred! (Hmmm. Kind of like some of you people!) In fact, some of you that talk about me the most, sold me dogs that are, or were in my kennel. I don't think I'm wrong in requiring all of my puppies to be spayed/neutered. That requirement was implemented when I sold a small female pup from Katie's first litter to a "vet tech" who didn't know enough to contain her properly when she came into her first heat when she went to work. She left her on a screened porch and came home to find her tangled up with a neighbor's mastiff!!!! Oops! Yeah, right. Then she calls me in hysterics wanting to know what to do! I protect my dogs from the ignorance of some people, because I care. That's my business, not yours. I may have lost my dear Katie, but I will never again have to worry about any of my pups whelping unwanted litters of unwanted puppies that will just add to the rescue and shelter overpopulation problems! I don't regret that decision at all. And who are you all to talk about it! I don't talk about you all by name, spread bad things around about you on chat groups, etc. Am I wrong to expect the same respect from you? I don't believe in a LOT of your practices. However, I do not harrass you, spread rumors and outright lies about you, or talk about you behind your backs.
There now. I've said my piece!
This goes out to all you members of the Border Collie PTA.
This song is for you!

Harper Valley PTA

I want to tell you all a story 'bout a Harper valley widowed wife
Who had a teenage daughter who attended
Harper Valley
Junior High…
Well her daughter came home one afternoon and didn't even stop to play,

And she said, "Mama, I’ve got a note here from the Harper valley PTA."
Well the note says, "Mrs. Johnson, you're wearing your dresses way too high.
It's been reported you've been drinkin' and a runnin' round with men and goin' wild.
Now we don't believe you ought to be a bringin' up your little girl this way."
And it was signed by the secretary, Harper Valley PTA.

Well it happened that the PTA was gonna meet that very afternoon.
And boy, were they surprised as Mrs. Johnson wore her miniskirt into the room.
And as she walked up to the blackboard I can still recall the words she had to say.
She said "I’d like to address this meeting of the Harper Valley PTA.”

”Now there's Bobby Taylor sittin' there and seven times he's asked me for a date.
And Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lot of ice whenever he's away.
And Mr. Baker can you tell us why your secretary had to leave this town?
And shouldn't widow Jones be told to keep her window shades all pulled completely down?”

”Now Mr. Harper couldn't be here 'cause he stayed too long in Kelly’s bar again,
And if you smell Shirley Thompson’s breath you'll find she's had a little nip of gin.
And then you have the nerve to tell me as a mother you think that I’m not fit!
Well this is just a little
Payton Place and you're all Harper Valley

Now I wouldn't put you on because it really did, it happened just this way.
That day my Mama socked it to the Harper valley PTA…
That day my Mama socked it to 'em at the Harper valley PTA.

I have always liked this song!
